Seven Ways Herbal Teas Can Boost Your Immune System this Winter!

Temperatures are dropping across the country, which means sniffles and flus are on the rise so it’s time to stock your shelves with immunity building herbal tea. We spoke to nutritionist and health journalist Honor Tremain who says, “…I love using herbs and spices to build up immunity and to fight off infections naturally if they take hold!”.

So here’s seven fabulous ways your comforting cup of herbal tea can help fight colds during the chilly months!

1. Time to Enjoy the Benefits of Turmeric!

“One of my favourites is the golden wonder spice; turmeric, which has been used for centuries in the East for health,” says Honor.  “More recently it has been scientifically proven to fight colds, flus and infections of all kinds.”
Neo Australia’s Turmeric Tea is a zesty, refreshing tea made with turmeric, citrus, lemongrass, sunflower blossoms and a hint of strawberry. Like all Neo’s teas, it’s 100% organic and made according to ancient Indian Ayurvedic recipes.

2. Ginger Root – The Hero of Herbal Teas

According to Honor… “Ginger is another favourite; able to fight off bacterial infections and flus, ease nausea and tummy upset, it can also additionally assist the body in warming. So on any of those super chilly days, a ginger tea can be your new best friend!”
Neo’s
Ginger Jiva tea is a blend of organic Australian ginger, Tulsi, green cardamom pods and apple.

3. Green Tea – The Ultimate Antioxidant Boost

Green tea is a wonderful way to naturally strengthen your immune system. It contains twice as many antioxidants when compared to black tea, while also being packed sky high with vitamin C. Make it a daily addition to your health routine over the winter months and maximise the benefits.

4. Wonderful in White

The benefits of white tea have been known for centuries however it’s often overlooked as people opt for its better-known cousins, black tea or green tea. In actual fact white tea is higher in antioxidants than both black or green tea because its leaves are less processed, which means its far more valuable as an immune system booster. Neo Australia’s Silver Needle White Tea is the rarest of white teas, harvested only two times per year at dawn. It contains a blend of organic chamomile and tulsi and can be enjoyed daily.

5. Berrylicious – The Perfect Trans-seasonal Treat

Not only is Berrylicious sweet to taste, it’s also packed with a mix of nutrient rich fruit and berries. Elderberries are known as natural fighters of autoimmune diseases and allergies while red and blackcurrants are overflowing with vitamins that will enhance energy levels and keep skin looking youthful. Perfect for the harsh winter months! It also includes rosehip, which is rich in vitamin C and flavonoids to help stimulate immunity and anti-inflammatory activity.

6. Sweeten the Deal! Add Some Healing Manuka Honey

Manuka honey is another naturally occurring source of antioxidants. It’s also known for its antibacterial properties, however it’s this sweet substance’s antiviral capabilities that will be most useful to you during cold and flu season.  Add a spoonful to your Ginger, Turmeric, or Green tea to give it some added potency, plus bring some satisfaction to any sweet tooth!

7. Mix Your Own Winter Remedy!

If you’re already feeling an itch in your throat or that slight pang of a pre-sickness headache, you can kick start your system by adding the following super-ingredients to your Neo Ginger or Tumeric Tea …or just start with our Super Immunity Tea Trio

5 Ways to Nourish Your Skin and Beat the Winter Itch

Winter is back, which means you may be feeling a familiar itch, the one that tells you temperatures have dropped, heaters have been turned up and, unfortunately, your skin has started to dry out. However, it’s easy to protect your skin, simply by treating it with moisture rich products that will shield it from harsh conditions. Here are a few simple tips that will help you maintain healthy, vibrant skin throughout the colder months!

  1. Enjoy The Many Benefits of White Tea!

The origins of white tea are similar to those of green tea and black tea, however the biggest difference is that white tea is harvested before the buds of the camellia Sensis plant open, which means it is the least processed of all the teas. Therefore its nutrients are left largely untouched, making it rich in antioxidants and invaluable as a refresher for stressed, dehydrated skin. Neo’s White Tea Facial Moisturiser is perfect for boosting moisture levels during the coldest times of the year while also giving it back its natural brightness and reducing lines.

  1. Add a Face Serum to Your Daily Routine.

Face serums are lighter versions of moisturiser that contain a concentrated amount of the most beneficial ingredients like antioxidants. In winter, your skin needs a deeper level of restorative moisture, which a serum like Neo Australia’s White Tea Serum for Stressed Skin can provide in abundance. For the most impact, use it daily under Neo’s White Tea Facial Moisturiser, especially if you’re experiencing dry patches or uneven skin tone, wanting to brighten tired skin and help reverse the ageing process.

  1. Butter up Your Body with Lavender and Shea.

Obviously it’s important to look after your face but don’t forget the rest of your body deserves some love too! Neo Australia’s Shea Body Butter is especially formulated for dry to very dry skin and contains a luxurious blend of aloe vera, shea, macadamia oil and vitamins that will sink in deeply to soften and sooth. If your skin is slightly less dry but still in need of extra care try Lavender Body Butter, which includes a blend of organic Tasmanian lavender plus aloe vera, macadamia oil and shea butter. It feels amazing and smells heavenly!

  1. Tighten Your Skin With Rosehip Revitalising Face Firming Cream.

Unfortunately one side effect of winter is a speeding up of the skin aging process. This is due to a lack of humidity in the air, which can dry you out and increase the appearance of lines and wrinkles. You can combat these effects by using a cream that specifically enhances the natural rejuvenation process. Neo’s Rosehip Oil Revitalising Face Firming Cream is enriched with a plethora of skin tightening vitamins along with evening primrose oil and rosehip oil, which can both reduce the appearance of lines.

  1. Tackle Acne with Neem Facial Moisturising Cream!

Another side effect of dryness can be acne, due to a decrease in your skin’s ability to repel bacteria and other toxins. Neem is a powerful herb known for having antibacterial properties that can promote healing and combat breakouts. Use Neo’s Neem Facial Moisturising Cream as a daily moisturiser or night cream to increase your ph balance and help fight blemishes this winter!

ORGANIC ROSEHIP OIL! A Step-by-step guide to using nature’s most effective skin product.

Neo’s Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is made from the harvested seeds of wild rose bushes. These seeds are cold pressed, which means their nutrients are gathered without using heat so valuable antioxidants and enzymes are kept intact. What’s created is a luxurious oil that is full of fatty acids and loaded with Vitamin C. It has been proven to help smooth wrinkles, rejuvenate skin, relieve eczema, reduce pigmentation and heal burns and scars. However, in order to get the most out of this delicate plant extract, it’s important to use it correctly. Here’s six tips that will make sure your skin receives all the nourishment it needs from this powerful, natural product…

1. Saving Face: Where should you apply your rosehip oil?

Our rosehip oil is very gentle so you can apply it directly to your face. Use it broadly at first, administering it everywhere including your neck. According to Cosmetic Surgeon Dr Wayne Young, M.D., "…Rosehip oil is known to have a healing effect on scar tissue and is also a natural way to reduce wrinkles and lines," so you can go back and massage an extra amount into any of these areas. You may also wish to add more to other trouble spots for example a dry forehead, red T-zone or puffy under-eyes. View our Rosehip oil range here.
2. Get the Know How: What are the best application techniques?

After cleansing with our Rosehip Oil Facial Cleanser, you should administer your rosehip oil to slightly damp skin using either a soft cotton pad or your finger-tips. Use a circular motion and remember to be gentle around the eyes. Also apply the oil around the mouth area to increase skin elasticity and prevent pre-mature lines in this area. Apply it to your neck using strokes that go from the bottom to the top. You can then use a moisturiser over the top, which will lock in all the goodness of the oil. For best results, use our Rosehip Oil Face Cream and High Intensity Hand Cream along with your Rosehip Oil .
3. The Time is Right:  When is the optimal time to use rosehip oil?

You can use Rosehip Oil morning and night, with night being the most valuable time so it can help your ski repair while you sleep. You can also use it up to three times a day, on its own, to treat issues like scarring, dryness or pigmentation. For a 24 hour solution, use our Rosehip Oil Day & Night Cream Duo.
4. Buy the Best: Why should you choose certified organic?

Buying organic products means you are avoiding absorbing harmful chemicals like Parabens, synthetic fragrance, sulfates, T.E.A, D.E.A, and formaldehyde into your system. Neo’s Rosehip Oil is Certified Organic. Products that have been certified organic have been approved by the Australian Certified Organic Standard, which means that they have been manufactured according to strict regulations.  By purchasing our Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, you can be assured you’re supplying your body with the very best, chemical free nourishment available. An additional benefit of purchasing Neo's Rosehip Oil is that it is a first press organic oil, which means it is cold pressed once and bottled. The pulp is not pressed over and over again, thus minimising the effectiveness of the oil - as some companies may do. Our oil is very effective and of the highest, premium quality grade.
5. Storage Solution: Where should you keep your rosehip oil?

You’ll notice that rosehip oil normally comes in a dark coloured bottle. This is because it’s sensitive to heat, which can reduce its nutrient quality. You can ensure your oil retains its incredible qualities by keeping it in its original bottle and storing in a cool place out of direct sunlight.
6. Multi tasking – Rosehip oil’s other fantastic benefits:

Rosehip oil isn’t just perfect for your face, it can also be used to anywhere on the body to diminish stretch marks. It also has remarkable effects on dry hair, helping to return natural moisture when massaged into the scalp. Your brittle nails will also benefit, while it’s also the perfect soothing agent for sunburnt skin. For total body care, buy our Rosehip Oil Basic Solutions Pack - all other rosehip oil products in this pack are made with over 50% rosehip oil content, delivering a total solution for age fighting results. This truly is nature’s best, all-round, perfectly pure skin and body care product!
